APEEE Class Representative Election 2026/2027

The election of the class representatives will be held at the end of the first class meeting with the class teacher. Each class is entitled to up to 4 class representatives, who must be APEEE members (have paid the annual family membership) and be declared as representatives to the APEEE Ixelles via the elected rep online form on MyAPEEE.

1. Class Meeting Dates

The class meetings for each year will be held at the following dates (information provided by the School):

2. APEEE Class Representative Election – What It Is & How It Works

At the beginning of each school year, parents of each class elect a maximum of 4 class representatives, in accordance with Article 7 of the APEEE Statutes.

The key role of class representatives is to represent collectively their class' concerns before the School and APEEE bodies. In that capacity, they become active APEEE members and have the right to vote in the annual APEEE General Assembly, as well as be elected as a Board Management or Education Advisory Committee member. 

Each Class Representative shall:

(a) Be a Contributing Member at the time of their election
(b) Be the parent of at least one (1) student in the relevant class of the School
(c) Not be the Class Representative of more than three (3) different classes of the School.

 
At the end of the first part of the class meeting, the class teacher will pass the responsibility for the remainder of the meeting to one parent, who will be in charge of conducting the election. The key rules for this election can be found at the bottom of this article.

The elected representatives should then fill the online form on MyAPEEE in order to provide their contact details to the APEEE (please check the above deadlines). To make things easier, we request that one of the elected representatives completes the form with the names and contact details of the other elected representatives in their class (click “Add” at the bottom of the form).

All personal information will remain strictly confidential and will only be used by the APEEE management.

N.B. The APEEE cannot communicate any parent contact details, even to assist the class representatives. The elected representatives should ensure a form is filled out during or after the meeting to collect contact details from each parent in the class.

3. Electoral Procedure

The following key electoral procedures apply for the class representative election:

• The parents of the students of a class of the School can validly elect the Class Representative(s) when at least half of the parents of the students of the relevant class of the School are present or represented.

• If there are 4 or less candidates as Class Representatives, the first priority shall be to appoint the Class Representative(s) by consensus. If a consensus cannot be reached, or if there are more than 4 candidates as Class Representatives, each Class Representative shall be validly elected if they obtain a simple majority of the votes.
• In the event of a tie between 2 or more candidates, new voting rounds shall be organised until the tie is broken.
• The family of a student of the class shall have 1 vote per student (of that family) in the class (e.g. in case of siblings) irrespective of whether the family is represented by 1 or more parents. Each family of a student of the class shall have the right, via regular means of communication, to give a proxy to another family of the class, to be represented at the meeting of the parents of the students of the relevant class of the School.
• The votes are issued by rollcall or by show of hands, unless there are more than 4 candidates for Class Representatives, in which case the vote shall be issued by secret ballot.
